What does your name mean and why did your parents choose it for you?
Submitted by mommy2two.
As the story goes they only had girls names picked out the most predominate of these was Jennifer Joy. So, in haste at the hospital, the old man didn't want to name me Paul the III (3rd) but didn't mind naming me after the following man...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ara_Parseghian Granted this was before the days where every kid had to have a unique name. Thankfully, Mommy dearest made him compromise on something that sounded like Ara. To their chagrin, it must have been in the top 10 most popular names in '74-75. Thus throughout grade school I was never Eric nor were the other 5 in a class of 40ish. Or HS or College. The name has never really stuck. Instead it's always "Hey Kinsella" or some nickname like Kinsey, Oldman and/or Mick. I think Mom and Dad should get a do over.
As for Kinsella, believe it or not it's Irish; Originally, it was Cinnsealach but later anglicized. There are many versions of what it means my personal favorite is "foul laugh". To find out more try http://www.kinsella.org/history/eanna.htm. Truth be told, Kinsella is the adoptive surname of my great-grandfather who's original surname was Barrell.
With that said my should be Ara Barrell. I wonder how that would have changed things? Would I have bowled a 300 instead of 299? I won't be able to sleep tonight. Thanks alot QotD!

FEATURED CONTENT: 2007 viking of the year nominees! by Tarvaris "Action" Jackson: A retread from last year, just to show where the committee's mind is at. Ever since the Vikings drafted him it seemed that I had seen him somewhere before. Just the other day it hit me - he's the black guy from every season of The Real World. He's even got that annoying necklace that cool guys wear. Enough said about him.
Antoine "Little Bitch" Winfield: He's little and he likes to bitch.
Visanthe "The Shank" Shianco: Ooooh... we're really scared. Hate to end up on the bottom of a pile with that guy. (On a side note, we've got four TE's, three of whom have big contracts, and none of whom were our best TE from last season. Is Tice still in charge?)
Yup, just three. Go ahead and come up with something better, but the committee'll probably just ignore you and try to push the "Action" t-shirts left over from last year's stolen election.
